“Karen’s Notes!
Insights from a Glory-Bound Lady”

Happiness depends on favorable circumstances. Joy is so very different. Karen wrote about this, and I am happy to share her thoughts.

Selected Notes
Volume 1 Number 5 “My Source of Rejoicing!” May 9, 2018

Karen has underlined, “The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise Him” (Psalm 28:7). Beside this verse in the margin she had drawn a large asterisk.

In her Bible study journal I found the following.

Karen wrote: The Lord is my strength. When do I need God’s strength? When I am discouraged, when I am physically weak, mentally stretched, spiritually needy and confused. God is my source of rejoicing. This is not because of circumstances. He is my source of rejoicing because He is my strength, my shield and my helper.

Mike’s observation: What a huge difference between happiness and rejoicing. Karen wasn’t happy about being sick. She wasn’t happy about the sorrow she knew her family was experiencing. She wasn’t happy about chemotherapy. But she honestly, honestly, honestly rejoiced in the Lord. She could truly write He is MY strength, MY shield, MY helper.
