“Karen’s Notes!
Insights from a Glory-Bound Lady”
Volume 7 Number 23 Post # 319 June 5, 2024
Every Wednesday we take a very quick look into a very brief portion of what Karen wrote in her Bible study journal. Sometimes she wrote things just to herself, and other times she used these notes in a ladies’ conferences in which she was teaching. I am praying that the Lord will bless you as He blessed her when she wrote it. When hard times come, remember the special word “R-E-A-D-E-R” from Karen of several years ago
I sat holding Karen’s Bible and thought of the years that the lady I married carried this. She had taught boys and girls from this Bible as well as ladies in seminars, counseling, and Bible studies. I have seen her reading this quietly in her favorite place in our living room. I have seen her teach her own children and remind them, “What does the Bible say?” While I certainly do not worship her Bible, I do worship the Author!
To my delight, as I was leafing through Karen’s Bible, I discovered a little outline that she had written on the fly leaf of her Bible. It is a little outline that explains what to do when hard times come.
It will spell out ‘R-E-A-D-E-R.’
Karen wrote: When hard times come:
R= Remember He is God!
E= Examine my life. Is this because of sin or is God refining me?
A= Admit my need of Him.
D= Depend fully upon Him.
E= Express worship and praise to Him.
R= Respond to His teaching.
I’ve thought lots about this: Of the many verses that meant a lot to Karen and me during her lifetime and especially during her journey with cancer, I think probably Psalm 46:10 really became her rock of stability. Let me close with that Scripture verse.
“Be still and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.”
Learning to be still before the Lord will help us on the journey to becoming a much better “R-E-A-D-E-R”!
