For the entire month of May, we have been peeking at what Karen wrote in one of her notebooks on November 11, 2010. It was a message I was preaching as a guest speaker back in New York state. I was so thrilled that she was able to accompany me that weekend. The message focused on King David’s “As For Me” statements. No matter what was happening around the king, he courageously with great conviction proclaimed, “As for me!” as he sought to live for the Lord. So must we. This is #318 of “Karen’s Notes.”
Week # 1- King’s David “As For Me” of adoration. Despite the wickedness that is abounding, I will still worship and love the Lord.
Week # 2- King David’s “As For Me” of affection. Despite lawlessness and schemes of dishonest people, I will walk in integrity because I am in love with the Lord.
Week # 3 King David’s “As For Me” of appreciation. Despite the fact that even when his good friends turned against him and let him down, he appreciated the fact that God is always faithful.
Week # 4- King David’s “As For Me” of anticipation. Despite the fact that many seem only to be living for the here and now, I have a wonderful sense of anticipation in view of eternity.
Karen wrote: Think of David’s glorious statement. “As for me, I will see Your face in righteousness” (Psalm 17:15). How awesome is the conviction of the king. He knew the Lord. He knew that the Lord loved him. He was thrilled as he anticipated the day that he would be with the Lord.
King David knew he would be present with the Lord.
King David knew that he would behold the Lord.
King David knew that this was extremely personal and intimate. He would see the Lord’s face. This, my friends, is closeness.
This absolutely thrills me as well today. As a follower of the Lord Jesus, I know that the day is coming when I will get to go Home to be with the Lord (John 14:1-3). I will truly be at home on that day. I am not home now, but I will be then. As a follower of the Lord, I know that I will be together with other believers as we will be in the presence of the Lord (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18). Then the prayer of the Lord Jesus that He prayed the night before He died for me will be answered. This is what He prayed.
“Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world” (John 17:24).
With the Lord.
Belonging to the Lord
Seeing His face.
Wow!
