“Oh that men would praise the LORD for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness” (Psalm 107:8-9).
It was not how the pastor had planned for the service to go. The pastor welcomed the church family to the morning worship hour and shared with them that he was going to take them to Psalm 107 and together they would think of some of the wonderful things that the Lord has done, is doing, and has promised that He will do in the life of each believer. After prayer, the church family sang several wonderful spiritual songs. Suddenly the young pastor felt like he was getting sick. It came on really quickly. During the offertory, he told the song leader, “I’m sick. I’m leaving. Close the service however you wish.” A little panic struck the song leader. Explaining to the church family, he simply said, “Our pastor was going to speak to us about people praising the Lord for His goodness. Let’s do just that.” One by one people stood and praised the Lord for His goodness. It was too bad the pastor got sick; however, it was an amazing service of praise that day.
For today: When was the last time you had a praise service between just you and the Lord? Maybe today would be a great day to start.
