Most of us have experienced this adjective. The definition is “sad or depressed from a longing for home or family while away from them for a long time.” The word is HOMESICK.

We who know the Lord Jesus and love Him at times are just simply, honestly, Homesick. It’s not that we don’t enjoy our family. It’s not that we don’t want to be His ambassadors in our corner of the world. It’s just that we long for Heaven, our Home, and we long to be with our Lord and the redeemed of the ages.

Homesick. Monica understood it and experienced it in a precious way. She was reading in her Bible and came to John 6:38 where she read, “For I came down from Heaven, not to do Mine own will, but the will of Him that sent Me.”

What wonderful services were held recently at Monica’s church! Her pastor had concluded his series of messages on Heaven. He had entitled the series, “Let’s Talk about Home.” She realized how very important it was for her to be living for the Lord Jesus right now. But the more she studied about Heaven, the more Homesick she became. This morning in her devotions she read the verse about the Lord Jesus coming down from Heaven, and the thought really struck her, “I am looking forward to going up to Heaven, but the Lord Jesus came down from Heaven to become my Savior.” Immediately folding her hands and bowing her head, Monica prayed, “Dear Lord, how awesome it is to realize that You left Your throne in glory to come down to this earth to be my Savior. I am so thankful that You rose from the dead and that You are back on Your throne in glory. I just can’t wait to come Home. Please use me today.”

For today: Sounds like a good praise and prayer request for us as well.
