“O LORD my God, in Thee do I put my trust…I will praise the LORD according to His righteousness; and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High” (Psalm 7:1, 17).
Jack was eating supper at the truck stop and enjoying his meatloaf and mashed potatoes. He had driven just fifteen minutes shy of the maximum that he could drive for the time being. To the table just beside him sat two men that he recognized from the years of trucking back and forth across the country. Jack listened.
The man, Blane, said, “I really am not living in denial. My heart is crushed with the problems that have come into my family. We are all doing our part in seeking the Lord, asking Him for guidance and then praising Him because of Who He is. His Word tells us that this is exactly how He wants me to respond. Go ahead and look at the menu and pick out your supper,” Blane continued. “We’ll order, and then I want to read Psalm 7 to you. Let me get my phone out. It has a Bible app on it,” Blane said as he and his friend picked up their menus.
Jack had heard of the house fire and how Blane’s family had lost everything. He listened quietly as Blane read the Psalm to his fellow trucker. It caused him to think seriously about his own relationship with the Lord.
For today: We praise the Lord today first and foremost because of HIS righteousness. This helps to put my situations into perspective. I might very well not be happy in my circumstances, but because I know the Lord Jesus, love Him, trust Him, praise Him, and sing to Him, I can have joy and worship in my heart even in the hard times.
