Oh friends, do I ever have a great verse for us to think about today.
“But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for Himself: the LORD will hear when I call upon Him” (Psalm 4:3).
“Thanks for seeing me today, Dr. Kenward. Is that what I should call you?” a very nervous young man named John said to the pastor in the counseling center.
“You are welcome to call me Dr. Kenward, but I would prefer you just call me Pastor. Relax. Take a deep breath and then tell me why you have come to see me today,” Pastor Kenward told him.
“I’m a broken man. I mean really broken,” John said. “When my parents learned of my decision for Christ, they disinherited me. My sister and her husband told me that they are atheists and don’t want me around their children. I’ve never been obnoxious with any of my family. I am so broken. The pastor of my own church doesn’t seem to care too much. He told me to come and see you and go to your church. How do I survive being rejected by my family?” John choked back the tears.
Suddenly the floodgates opened, and John sobbed as a crushed, broken man. Over five minutes went by before John began to regain his composure. Pastor Kenward saw his secretary Marie at the window in the door of his office. He nodded ‘yes’ and within a moment, Marie brought water into the counseling center. I’ll tell you tomorrow what happened next.
For today: Your problems may seem unsurmountable, your situation impossible, and your heartache inconsolable. But when you turn your eyes by faith unto the LORD, your blessings will be incredible.
