“Well, good luck to you,” Hank said with sincerity.

“May I tell you something very briefly?” Lucas responded.

“Sure, what’s that?” Hank asked with a strange look on his face.

Quietly so that the conversation would be private and not embarrass Hank, Sam shared, “I used to think that I lived by luck. Why, I’d cross my fingers and knock on wood. Why, I even carried a fake rabbit’s foot for luck. Then an amazing thing happened to me. I came into a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. I don’t live by luck anymore. I live by the Lord and trust Him. I’d love to tell you more about it if you’d care to hear, Hank.”

So began quite the conversation. It reminds me of what the Apostle Paul said to the churches in Galatia. “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me” (Galatians 2:20).

For today: Aren’t you glad that the Sovereign LORD God is in charge and not just some elusive thing called luck? I surely am.
