“My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not. My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path” (Proverbs 1:10, 15).
He was new at the fast food restaurant and thought perhaps he really didn’t see what was happening. “It couldn’t be what I thought I saw,” he said to himself. It was a half hour before closing. The main section of the restaurant was closed. He was cleaning throughout the sitting area when he saw Sheila fill an order without entering it into the computerized cash machine. He thought perhaps the computer had gone down until he spotted her putting the money in her pocket. “It can’t be what I’m thinking it is,” he said in disbelief. He had never witnessed anything like this before. Then it happened again. Sheila filled the order and pocketed the money just before the night manager emerged from the office. They talked briefly before the manager returned to the office. Sheila looked up and spotted Lance approaching the counter. The sweet Sheila suddenly had a vicious look in her eye, “Listen, Lance. I know you saw what I did. We all do this. We deserve more pay, and with nothing going through the system, no one will ever know,” she said. “Keep your mouth shut, and I will give you a portion of what I make,” she offered. Lance didn’t have to think for a moment, “No! Never. You are stealing. I’m a Christian, and I could never, never steal from my boss and his owner,” Lance said with conviction. Wait until you see what happens. I will share this with you tomorrow.
For today: If sinners entice you, be emphatic and say, “NO!”
