“Blessed is the man that trusts in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river” (Jeremiah 17:7-8).
As you no doubt know, my dear wife Karen is battling cancer. When hearing the diagnosis of cancer, she displayed remarkable composure and quietness. Calmly she spoke to the medical personnel and even other patients. Many have commented about her testimony of faith and dependence upon the Lord. Karen is very quick to tell people that it is not her that is producing this strength and quietness. It comes from walking with the Lord and relying upon Him. It doesn’t mean that we become unconcerned and unfeeling; rather, it is being like a tree that is planted next to a river. When the heat of the summer comes, that tree has all the water it will ever need. In the deepest and most difficult trials of life, Christ is the river. We are the tree. How does this truth impact your life?
For today: I am so glad that Christ cares for His people. What would we ever do without Him?
