I am sharing several verses that have always been special to me. However, in the last few years, they have become exceptionally wonderful and have blessed me over and over and over again. I pray that they will encourage you as well.
“When my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I” (Psalm 61:2). “He only is my rock and my salvation” (Psalm 62:2).
King David fought many battles. Israel was surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea on the west and enemies on the north, south, and east. I don’t know much about warfare, but of this I am sure. It is a great advantage to be above your enemy on the security of the rock rather than fighting below on ground that is not steady. David not only faced military warfare; he also faced spiritual warfare. The Lord was David’s solid Rock. How wonderful this is for every situation.
Is it a hard day? Run to your Rock. Are you facing uncertainty? Run to your Rock. Is it the best and happiest day of your life? Still run to your Rock. We need Him in every situation. How will this play out in your life today?
As I send you on your way today: Don’t be unwise and face your spiritual battles in your own strength. Trust the Rock Who is higher than you. Sounds impossible. Read Psalm 61 and 62 slowly and thoughtfully. More about this tomorrow!
