“Now, my son, the LORD be with thee; and prosper thou, and build the house of the LORD thy God, as He hath said of thee. Only the LORD give thee wisdom and understanding” (1 Chronicles 22:11-12).
King David would soon be leaving this world. His son Solomon would take his place. Solomon would have the privilege as well as the responsibility of building the temple, something David had very much wanted to do. God had indicated to David that his son Solomon would be granted this blessing. Wisely David encouraged Solomon to do everything that God wanted him to do. Best of all he reminded Solomon that he would need the Lord’s wisdom and understanding. This is such a rich principle for every parent. There is nothing better for our children than knowing the Lord Jesus as their own Savior and for them to follow Him. What joy sweeps over the Godly parents as they watch their children relying on the Lord’s wisdom and understanding. Even if you do not have children, you can pray as well as encourage young people just as did David.
For today: Doing the will of God through the power of God is the greatest blessing any child can grow up and experience. How will this affect you today?
