“But God, Who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved)” (Ephesians 2:4-5) NKJV.
“I can’t go to Heaven,” he told the pastor. “I’ve given up. I tried religion, and it was empty. I tried being good and that didn’t last very long. If you knew the things that I’ve done, I know that God won’t let me into His Heaven,” he said with a terrible tone of despair. “There’s no hope for me,” he concluded. The wise pastor didn’t dismiss his hopelessness, but he did something even better. He pointed him to the mercy and grace of the Lord Jesus and explained that Christ accomplished what he could never do. After hearing the plan of salvation for the very first time, he placed his trust in Christ alone. Have you made that same decision? For today: Aren’t you glad for the mercy and grace of Christ? I surely am!
