Persist.
According to Dictionary.com, “persist” is a verb meaning “to continue steadfastly or firmly in some state, purpose, or course of action.” Thank you, word crafters. I have a better definition of the word persist. Ready for it?
Persist, a verb describing the squirrel’s action of continuing to outsmart Dr. Mike in being able to perform impossible maneuvers to get the bird seed from “squirrel proof” feeders. Yep! That’s what the word persist really means.
The Apostle Paul knew about persisting. He told the Galatians, “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not” (Galatians 6:9). That’s just about what he told the believers in Thessalonica. He said, “But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing” (2 Thessalonians 3:13).
I’m not quite ready to say that I need to be like that pesky squirrel. However! With the Lord’s help, His enablement, and His blessing, I want to persist. I want to be steadfast and firm to His purpose.
For today: How wonderful to know that our purpose is eternal and the Lord is our Enabler.
