Thanks for stopping by “Dr. Mike’s Daily Prescriptions”! Hundreds have made these brief spiritual devotionals and encouragement a part of their daily lives. If you can think of family and friends that might want to try them, please feel free to have them visit www.michaelpeck.org and they can subscribe free of charge by signing up on the lower right corner of my homepage. It’s just as easy to unsubscribe if they ever wish to.

I’m going to place several of the verses from Proverbs 15 into one paragraph. I’m excited to share this with you today.

“A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger. The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness. A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife. The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things. The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honor is humility” (Provers 15:1-2,18,28,33).

Have you ever noticed that some folks can turn a situation that is tense into a full-blown explosion? They are sometimes compared to being a bull in a china shop who crash and smash relationships by their harsh, loud, and out-of-control anger. On the other hand, you have no doubt witnessed the tense situation slowly subside into being peacefully resolved because of the soft answer (gentle words wisely used). I realize that you and I can’t control others and guarantee the outcome of hostility. But this I can tell you, when we fear the Lord, humbly care about people, think about what we are going to say and how we’re going to say it, and then speak gently and quietly, we at least know that we have done all that the Lord wishes us to do. The rest is up to Him.

How will this apply to your life today?
