“But that you may know my affairs, and how I do, Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, shall make known to you all things” (Ephesians 6:21).
As I step to the pulpit to preach, I realize that my gifts and ministry are out in the open, center stage for everyone to see. I want to tell you that this humbles me and still frightens me at times. Why? The answer is simple but powerful. I do not deserve this ministry, nor am I humanly qualified in myself. Moreover I also realize that while my ministry is preaching, there are dozens of people who are serving in ministries in the same location. Their ministries are not so easily seen; however, they are just as important. Some serve publicly alongside the preacher. Some serve behind the scenes and are seldom seen by others. But their ministry is absolutely essential. Tychicus was just such a person. What would Paul have done without him? Whatever role the Lord has given to you, do it faithfully and rejoice in that you have the privilege of serving the Most High God today!
For today: Each of us is a little servant, serving in a tremendous assignment because we belong to the awesome Lord.
