“The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee” (Jeremiah 31:3).
“Mom and Dad, you never gave up on me. I acted hatefully toward you. I rebelled and made life miserable for everyone. But especially for you, Mom. I treated you terribly when everything you were doing was to help me,” Jennifer sobbed.
Wiping her eyes with the tissue she continued, “It was not until many years later when I walked into an evening service and the pastor was preaching about God’s everlasting love and how He draws people with lovingkindness that it suddenly sank into me. God was not letting me run any longer. You never gave up on me, and now I am home today because of the lovingkindness of the Lord and you, my parents.”
Tears flowed down her cheeks. Both of her parents surrounded her, and with their embrace they welcomed her home. How about you? Do you know someone who, like Jennifer, needs to come back to the Lord and their home?
Here’s my question for all of us: Aren’t we glad for the Lord’s lovingkindness? I hate to think of where I would be if it weren’t for the Lord and His everlasting love and kindness. How about you?
