I was reading in Luke 1 and taking a few minutes to rejoice once again in the message of the angel Gabriel to the virgin Mary long ago which described the Child she would miraculously, supernaturally conceive. The angel told her five things about her Son.
1. “He shall be great” (1:32a). This speaks of His ability and authority.
2. “And shall be called the Son of the Highest” (1:32b). This speaks of His deity.
3. “And the Lord God shall give unto Him the throne of His father David” (1:32c). This speaks of His royalty.
4. “And He shall reign over the house of Jacob forever” (1:33a). This speaks of His majesty.
5. “And of His kingdom there shall be no end” (1:33b). This speaks of His eternality.
Simply stated, my friend, you cannot think too highly of the Lord Jesus Christ. His name is above every name, and at His name every knee shall bow (Philippians 2:9-10). The first set of knees bow in adoration and jubilation (Revelation 4,5). The second set bow in judgment and eternal separation (Revelation 20:11-15). You either know Him as your Savior, or you don’t, my friend. There is no middle ground, no middle of the road. If you’re not sure of what it means to trust the Lord for salvation, please take a moment to go to www.michaelpeck.org and click the banner “Heaven.” For sure, you can never think too highly of the Lord Jesus.
