“This I say then, walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh” (Galatians 5:16).
While we are not going to live perfectly on this side of Heaven, we still can walk in the Spirit and not live surrendering to sin. Every day we are faced with choices. Isn’t it interesting that way back in the Garden of Eden, as soon as sin entered the world because of the choices of Adam and Eve, both offered excuses. Ever since the Garden experience, people still offer excuses as to why they choose to sin. Several ladies were talking on the bus ride downtown. Carla was still giggling as she tried to imitate her seven-year-old son Elliot who was caught red-handed in the cookie jar. She shared with her friends, “I walked into the kitchen just as Elliot pulled the cookie out of the jar and took a bite. When I questioned him about it, he swallowed and said, ‘I was just walking past it. I stopped and walked away. Then I walked back. Then it happened, Mom. It wasn’t my fault,’ he said to me. What could I say? He surely is related to me!” Carla said. “I really need to be careful not to walk back and stare at sin. It will get me every time!” With that her friends unanimously agreed. It is the same for us, friends.
For today: I want to walk in the Spirit by obeying the Word and talking to my Lord. How about you?
