“For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am” (1 Corinthians 15:9-10.)
Pamela called to her husband who was in the next room. “Honey, the phone is for you. It’s Pastor calling.” Chad took the phone and in his typical sense of humor said, “Hi, Pastor. What did I do this time? I am innocent whatever the situation is.” He laughed with his pastor, and apparently the pastor said something humorous because he nodded his head and laughed harder. The conversation turned serious and Chad said, “Sure I have time. Now is a good time to speak with you. What’s up, Pastor?” The pastor was calling to ask Chad if he would consider being nominated to serve as a deacon of their church. Chad was instantly overwhelmed and felt so inadequate and so very undeserving of such an honor. So did the Apostle Paul. It was only the grace of God that would ever allow him to serve. The same would be true of Chad, of me, and of course, of you as well.
For today: By the grace of God I want to walk with Him and serve Him all my days. How about you?
