I’m thinking of a verse today that believers around the world are embracing and even making a part of their prayer life. Let me share it with you.
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God” (James 1:5).
Think of three people who are praying that prayer from various parts of the country.
A man is seeking the Lord’s wisdom in a business decision he must make soon. His present company wants him to stay with them, but two other companies have pursued him and are eagerly extending invitations to come with them. “Lord, please give me wisdom,” he is praying.
A school bus driver is facing the decision of retiring early or staying on for another year. Contracts must be signed soon, and she is praying, “Lord, please give me wisdom. The kids on my bus are getting worse, and I don’t want to lose my testimony with them. I’m not sure how much longer I can take this situation. Please give me wisdom.”
A broken-hearted pastor never dreamed that he would face the situation he is facing within his church. Relationships in the life of one of the couples have become so twisted and tangled that he can see no way of resolving the conflict. “Please, Lord, I need your wisdom in special ways,” he’s pleading as he sits at his desk.
You and I can be added to this list of dear folks. We truly need wisdom every single day.
For today: The Lord never runs short on wonderful wisdom. Go ahead! Ask Him for it.
