“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23).
I hope that today will have far greater significance to you than simply watching a parade or enjoying a picnic. Today we honor those who gave their lives for our country. No one understands the supreme price of freedom any better than does the young widow who will now raise her children without her husband. No one understands the pain of the price of freedom any better than does the grieving parents as they learn of the death of their soldier son or daughter. Freedom comes at a terrible cost. Spiritually speaking, the same truth must be remembered. The Lord Jesus gave His life so that we could live. Our salvation came at a terrible price. I want to be a thankful Christian first and a thankful American second. How about you?
For today: Freedom is never free. It comes at such a cost. May we be a thankful people indeed.
