“Give unto the LORD the glory due unto His name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness. The voice of the LORD is upon the waters: the God of glory thunders: The LORD is upon many waters” (Psalm 29:2-3).
Stan was the kind of man that seemed to be like a walking, talking encyclopedia. He never seemed to be able to manage simply having a conversation with people. He seldom connected with those around him. In the lunch room one afternoon, several weather alerts sounded on co-workers’ phones. Liz was the first to read the alert and report that severe thunderstorms were heading their way. Stan piped up, “Bet you didn’t know that it is estimated that between forty to fifty lightning bolts strike the Earth’s surface every second?” Liz simply shook her head and said, “Stan, Stan, the science man. Thanks for that report, but honestly, right now I am concerned about the lightning strikes headed our way.” The six co-workers smiled. Suddenly a flash of lightning with an immediate deafening thunderclap struck. Mitch spoke up, “Well, Stan, Stan, the science man. Did you know that the Bible says the God of glory thunders? That’s the most important fact for all of us.”
For today: We belong to the God of all glory. Even the thunderstorm points this out.
