“The Lord is my shepherd” (Psalm 23:1).
Have you ever seen a lamb wrestling and wringing its hooves in worry and despair? Have you ever met a lamb stewing and fretting, wondering what it will eat tomorrow and where it will find calm refreshing water?
Of course not!
Have you ever found sheep worrying about a dozen other things?
Of course not!
They don’t have to! They have shepherds. All the sheep have to do is follow. I know this sounds rather overly simplistic. But dear believer, think of it! We are the Lord’s sheep, and He is our Shepherd. He will lead us, nourish us, protect us, provide for us, and do all the other things that shepherds do for their sheep. Let me tell you, from my heart, I’ve walked with the Lord a long time, and I continue to grow in my appreciation for the glorious truth that I belong to the Lord. He is my Shepherd. He is perfect. I most certainly am not.
For today: What a wonderful blessing to conclude the month of May with remembering that the Lord is our Shepherd. What a great way to begin the new month together tomorrow!
