“But though He cause grief, yet will He have compassion according to the multitude of His mercies” (Lamentations 3:32).
Rachel’s dad went Home to be with the Lord. Her siblings and family were gathered in Dad’s apartment. “Dad had several Bibles that he wore out in reading and studying. I think there are enough for each of us to take one of them,” Cliff said. That night after Rachel put her children to bed, she and her husband started leafing through her dad’s study Bible. In the margin of Lamentations 3:32, she found her dad’s familiar handwriting. She held the Bible up closer to the light to see the words better. Her dad had written, “’In grief God still has compassion according to the multitude of His mercies.’ Oh, how I need this!” The tears flowed freely once again as Rachel put her dad’s Bible back on her lap. “Daddy surely knew more than his share of grief, but he also truly knew the Lord’s mercy and appreciated His compassion. I could write ‘me, too’ below it,” she whispered to her husband. “Me, too.”
For today: Even in the hard times, God wants to embrace you with His compassion and show you how vast His mercies are. Could you write “me, too” beside this wonderful verse?
