“Cleave unto the LORD your God” (Joshua 23:8).
Yesterday I wrote a little of the life of Joshua and his earnest plea to those who were following him to be observing all that the Lord has done and continues to do. Joshua, the military man, described this working of God as the “LORD your God is He that hath fought for you” (Joshua 23:3). Now as he continues his address, he calls on the people to “cleave” to the LORD. The actual word is dabaq which is pronounced da-VAK. This means “to cling, stick to or stay close to, be joined together.” What great advice for Joshua to give the people assembled around him. What great advice for us today.
For today: I want to follow closely to the LORD, and even though it is an old word in our English, I want to cleave to Him. How about you?
