“And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful” (Colossians 3:15).
“How can you stay so calm?” Martin said to his co-worker. After a thoughtful moment, Anne responded, “Marty, please don’t misunderstand me. I am concerned about the presentation today. I know that a lot is riding on this. I very much understand how big the contract is to our department. But I am beginning to learn that one of the components to peacefulness is thankfulness. My pastor has been speaking to our church family about this. Peace in my life, home, and even work is not the absence of stressful situations. It is the quietness that comes when I view myself as His child and the Lord as being my Father and I develop a thankful spirit even in the midst of big presentations.” Because Martin didn’t know the Lord as his Savior, he never fully grasped the spiritual concept of peace and thankfulness being so interwoven. What a great lesson for us today.
For today: Want peace? Start being a little more thankful to the Lord in your circumstances. It will be amazing.
