“I thank my God upon every remembrance of you” (Philippians 1:3).
Paul had a lot on his mind and heart. Frankly, people put him through a lot! Even believers in the local churches that he was planting at times were challenging. He was very concerned about two ladies who needed to be of the same mind. Yet there was something amazing about this man, the Apostle Paul. He honestly was thankful, and specifically, he was thankful for the church family at Philippi. It reminds me of two men who were standing and chatting in the church foyer after the morning service. Elderly Grandpa Stan walked by, greeted the men and was on his way. One of the men turned to watch the very frail “grandpa to everyone in the church” as he headed to the south door. Stopping to talk with everyone along the way, what a remarkable Christian man was Stan. Looking back and speaking to the other man, Larry said, “You know, Stan is truly remarkable. He can find something for which to be thankful in most everyone he’s ever met. I want to grow old like that.” What a challenge for us as Thanksgiving Day is approaching.
For today: Think of this! Be thankful for others and let them know you are!
