“Sing unto the LORD with thanksgiving” (Psalm 147:7).
It is strange how special holidays seem to heighten the intensity of grief. I have spoken with many folks just like me who miss their loved ones so much. Every day our loved one or ones are much on our minds. Then along comes Thanksgiving, and their absence from us is heart-wrenching. Even though we know our loved one(s) is in Heaven, we still miss them so much. Psalm 147 has become a very precious Psalm to me. We are to give thanks to Him, and in fact, we are to sing to Him. This is right because of His greatness, power, and understanding (Psalm 147:5). This is right because He knows the exact number of the stars. In fact, He knows them all by name (Psalm 147:4). This is right because He heals the broken in heart (Psalm 147:3). So on this special day after Thanksgiving, I pray that you will still be giving thanks, even if your heart is broken.
For today: How grateful I am for the Lord. How about you?
