“But now I go my way to Him that sent Me” (John 16:5).
You and I have the wonderful privilege of belonging to the awesome Lord Jesus. In our reading for today, the Lord Jesus is but hours from the cross. It is impossible to humanly comprehend what must have been going through the mind and heart of the Lord Jesus. Before he could go Home to be with the Father, He would endure agony that is unparalleled. He would bear our sins in His own body on the cross. He would endure agonizing separation from His Father. He would experience the judicial wrath of the holy God unleashed upon the wretchedness of our sins. The writer of the book of Hebrews, in chapter 12 and verse two, tells us “who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” How wonderful it is to realize that once the payment for our sins was made in full, the Lord Jesus went Home. He went back to the Father. More about this tomorrow.
For today: You and I can rejoice in the fact that our Savior is seated on the right hand of the Father. How awesome is our Savior!
