“Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy Word” (Psalm 119:114).
Do you know that if you are one of Christ’s own people, He is a hiding place, a secret place for you? John Gill was born in 1697 and died in 1771. He was an English Baptist pastor and Biblical scholar. Gill writes, “Thou art my hiding place….From temporal calamities. The perfections of God are chambers of retreat and safety to His people, where they may hide themselves and be safe, till such calamities are over (Isaiah 26:20). And from spiritual evils, from avenging justice, from divine wrath, from the rage of Satan, and the fury of men, (Isaiah 32:2) and from eternal death.”
I have no idea what you are facing today. However! I want to encourage you to think of this. Whatever the situation may be, don’t become angry and bitter toward the Lord. Rather than running from Him, run to Him. Get into His Word. Invest moments with Him in prayer. Ask Him to give you wisdom, to trust, and be in submission to His plan. I can tell you from personal experience, He is a precious and personal hiding place.
For today: Run to the secret hiding place. He’s waiting for you!
