I am thinking of the name of the Lord Jesus.
Yesterday I shared a thought or two with you from Colossians 3:17 about living joyfully with the name of the Lord Jesus being our blessed reminder each day. Now let me share a verse nearby. It is from Philippians 2:9-11. Following the life and ministry of the Lord Jesus and His death on the cross for our sins, think of what has taken place in His life now.
“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him and given Him a name which is above every name: that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
As a believer, as one who has placed his trust in Christ alone to save me from the penalty of my sins, I know that the day is coming when I will joyfully in celebration bow my knees. I will adore Him. I will worship Him. I will be filled with wonder, amazement, and awe according to Revelation chapters four and five. Over 1,000 years later, the Great White Throne takes place where every Christ-rejecter will come under His authority as in the bowing of the knee. Revelation 20:11, 15 clearly states, “And I saw a great white throne, and Him that sat on it from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them…And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”
The first bowing will be Christ-followers, and it will be celebration with the Lord (Revelation 4, 5).
The second bowing will be Christ-rejecters, and it will be a horrible eternal separation from the Lord (Revelation 20).
Here’s the situation. Here’s the decision every person must make. Which group will I be in? I can’t answer for you. But as for me, I am so filled with awe and joy because by His grace I am in the first group. How about you, my friend?
