“There has no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful  (1 Corinthians 10:13).

Do you remember poor Janet feeling like she was the only person in the world that has experienced her embarrassing situation at her locker from yesterday?  Her Mom wisely reminded her that she would never face a totally unique situation. Paul called it “common to man.” The word actually is anthropinos (pronounced an-THROP-en-os) which means “those things applied to man.” Paul counseled the Corinthian believers that no temptation, no trial, no test would ever befall them except what is common to man. On top of that, God would be faithful or dependable to them as they go through the hard times. It may be just a cliché to many, but as for me, I am glad that others are in the same boat with me, especially when the Lord is the Captain and can be fully trusted because of His faithfulness.

For today: It is not that misery loves company. It is just a joyful reminder that we share everything in common and that God Himself can be trusted.
