“But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank” (Daniel 1:8).
I have been so impressed with Daniel. Here is a young man, taken violently from his homeland, ripped from that which he loved and brought to a horrible place. A horrible place indeed was Babylon. In spite of this, Daniel had such a precious attitude before the Lord. The King James says he “purposed in his heart.” Another translation says that he “made up his mind” that he would not defile himself. Wow! Think of it! We will face plenty of situations today in which we too must “purpose” or “make up our minds” that we will not defile ourselves with sins and the ways of the world. What a great adventure this is going to be today!
For today: Thanks for your example, Daniel. Now we need to live the same way!
