“For here have we no continuing city, and but we seek one to come. By Him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to His name” (Hebrews 13:14-15).

The writer of the book of Hebrews consistently lays out the superiority of Christ. Christ is better than everything in every way. As the writer begins to conclude his letter, he reminds the reader that nothing here is permanent. He states, “We have no continuing city” in verse 14. The word “continuing” is meno which has to do with “continuing to abide, to endure, not to perish.” Lance shook his head as he placed the newspaper on the kitchen table. He bowed his head, thanking the Lord that this present world is not his home. Throughout the day he would praise the Lord because of Who the Lord is and what He promised. That sounds like something that would be good for us to do as well.

For today: I want to praise the Lord that “this world is not my home, I’m just a-passing through.” How about you?
