“Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness” (Romans 6:18).
I told you yesterday about the disheveled stranger who barged into the pastor’s office. Sobbing under the heavy weight of his sin and the dreadful consequences he bore, the stranger asked the pastor if there was any help and hope for him. As you will remember, the pastor shared with him the gospel and introduced him to the Lord Jesus Christ. Over the next two months one of the men of the local church met weekly with that man for a Bible study. It was a wonderful time of watching the Lord’s transforming grace at work in the man’s life. While there would still be consequences for his past actions, the Lord was changing him on the inside as well as on the outside! Finally the day came when the estranged wife came to the pastor’s office and asked, “What have you done to my husband?” She continued, “Whatever has happened to him, I want it to happen to me! You can’t believe the change that’s taken place in my husband!” It is always amazing to watch the Lord change people as He takes them from the bondage of sin to the privilege of being a servant of righteousness. How about you? Have you experienced this wonderful transforming grace?
For today: The Lord is still in the business of changing people!
