“Blessed are they that keep His testimonies, and that seek Him with the whole heart. With my whole heart have I sought Thee” (Psalm 119:2, 10).
I smiled as I read these verses. Most of the folks that have subscribed to my Dr. Mike’s Daily Prescriptions know me somewhat and are aware of my physical situation. Some, however, may not know that in late April and early May of this year, I suffered three heart attacks. These resulted in much of my heart being destroyed. My heart function is only about 20%. Hence, I smile when I read of the psalmist speaking of his “whole heart.” Thank the Lord that His Word is not speaking about the human heart. The Hebrew word “heart” is leb (pronounced lave) and has the idea of the inner man, the mind, will, understanding. It is the seat of our appetites, emotions, even of courage. Gladly I can say that I want to seek Him with all the energy my physical heart allows me and with all the devotion my inner man has – which is still full and complete! How about you?
For today: I am so happy to tell you that the Lord our God is awesome. Seek Him today through His Word. Talk with Him often. Praise and worship Him in your moments today.
