September is closing out quickly. It seems like the older I grow the faster the seasons seem to be flying by. In spite of the brevity of life and quickly passing seasons, we believers can be rejoicing in our great God. To Jeremiah, the Old Testament prophet, God said, “Let him that glories, glory in this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD” (Jeremiah 9:24).
What a privilege it is to have a personal relationship with the Lord.
What a precious joy it is to be on a journey of intentionally wanting to better know the Lord.
What a personal responsibility it is to be in His Word, reading, believing, embracing and getting to better understand His ways and purpose.
To help us get to know Him better, for the next week we are going to focus on just one of God’s attributes, one of His essential qualities or perfection. Let’s be thinking of His FAITHFULNESS. In each of the verses for the next week, the idea of God’s faithfulness is that which is firm, stedfast, and totally trustworthy.
Day One: Faithfulness found in Psalm 36:5. To the clouds!
“Thy mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reaches unto the clouds.” God is reliable. You can’t stand on the earth and reach to the clouds. Perhaps people have failed you. Perhaps you have been terribly wounded by the blows of rejection. Perhaps your trust has been broken. Stop! Think! Picture the faithfulness of God reaching in such great abundance that you can’t reach the end of it. In the best of times, this is blessed. In the worst of times, this is precious.
For today: Faithfulness that stretches to the clouds and back. That’s our great God.
