“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, Who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape that ye may be able to bear it” (1 Corinthians 10:13).
The Bible Institute professor stood before a classroom full of men who were studying for pastoral ministry. Counseling seemed to be the biggest concern to them. While they would be taking several classes on the ministry of counseling, the class knew that Dr. Kenward had counseled thousands of people over his lifetime of ministry. He assured the class that 1 Corinthians 10:13 would become their anchor. He smiled as he said, “This verse is what the Lord has used to keep my sanity over the years. Nothing is going to present itself that will be totally unique. Always point your counselees to the Word. If they need medical treatment, don’t hesitate to refer them to the appropriate professional. But if it is a spiritual problem, the Word of God is totally sufficient.” The class was about to be dismissed when Dr. Kenward said, “I don’t know who wrote this. But someone said, ‘He knows the load. He knows our limit. So He truly limits the load.’”
For today: Whatever you are facing, keep 1 Corinthians 10:13 close to your hearts today.
