“Trophimus have I left at Miletum sick. Do thy diligence to come before winter” (2 Timothy 4:20-21).
These verses have intrigued me. We can already see that the Apostolic age of miracles was beginning to come to a cessation. Trophimus was left behind because he was sick. Why didn’t Paul just heal him? The answer may very well be that the third era of miracles (# 1 Moses and Joshua; #2 Elijah and Elisha; and # 3 The Lord Jesus and His Apostles) was coming to a close. The real lesson for us today is to see that even the greatest of teams has to be flexible because things are not always going to go the way “we planned.” Trophimus was a precious part of Paul’s third missionary journey, but now he is sick, and Paul’s team had to be flexible. There are dozens of ways that the subscribers to “Dr. Mike’s Daily Prescriptions” will have to learn to be flexible in “their plans.”
For today: How will this affect you today?
