“Now therefore, O God, strengthen my hands” (Nehemiah 6:9).
What a great building project in which Nehemiah and the people were engaged! Those walls of Jerusalem absolutely had to be rebuilt. Construction was going along amazingly well. However, that doesn’t mean there was no opposition. In fact, by the time we arrive at Nehemiah 6, the opposition and resistance against Nehemiah was severe. The enemies tried to distract him from the work (1-4), discredit him in the work (5-9), disqualify him in the work (10-14), and discourage him in the work (17-19). What a powerful and precious prayer. “Now therefore, O God, strengthen my hands.” Nehemiah wisely remembered that nothing of lasting value would ever take place without the blessing of the Lord. What are you facing today? You need Him as well.
For today: May the Lord strengthen your hands for the work to which He has called you today.
