It is the night before the Lord Jesus would die on the cross for us.
It is only hours or perhaps moments before He would be betrayed.
It is a time of profound agony as the Lord Jesus is talking with His Father in the garden.
Think of what He prayed.
“Father, I will that they also, whom Thou hast given Me, be with Me where I am; that they may behold My glory, which Thou hast given Me: for Thou lovedst Me before the foundation of the world” (John 17:24).
This gives us joy today: This is how the Lord Jesus prayed that night. Father, this is something that I greatly desire. I greatly desire that those who You gave to Me, I truly desire, I truly want with all My heart for the day to come that they will be with Me and really gaze upon and behold My glory. Father, I know that You love Me from before the foundation of the world, and I want to share this with My followers in a face-to-face, glorious way.
How do we ever begin to describe the glory that awaits us? As I often think about this incredible blessing, I can testify that it does give incredible joy as we by faith walk with Him now.
