Will Spring Ever Get Here? The Prayer Letter of Michael and Karen Peck who serve with Baptist Church Planters. |
Dear Supporters,
Karen and I want to thank you for your prayers. Do we ever have alot to share with you in this edition!
First, Saturday, February 8th, started out as any other day. By mid-morning, I (Michael) started to get sick. Very sick! After three days of extreme illness, I was admitted to the hospital for eight days with IV fluids and shots to “get things settled down.” The diagnosis was C-Diff. Today I am glad to say that I am much better even though I am still on an antibiotic, daily probiotic, and yogurt (I don’t know why anyone would eat that stuff if they didn’t absolutely have to!). I will return to preaching April 6th, Lord willing.
Second, wonderful things are happening in JOY Clubs. Chip and Karen Wood and their family continue to have a very full schedule on their deputation ministry. This is a quality family that will greatly expand JOY Club and bring it to the next level of ministry. Meanwhile, as a result of God’s blessings, Karen sees lots of good things that are happening right now.
- There are five new clubs this year in Michigan, Colorado, California, Texas and Alaska.
- A dear pastor from a small fishing village in Alaska was able to invite the entire public elementary school and offer them to be dropped off by the school bus after school. There are only twenty-eight students in Kindergarten through grade six. Amazingly, twenty-three boys and girls have enrolled in JOY Club!
- A church in Nova Scotia started a JOY Club in 2012 and has already had fifteen salvation decisions. They are really thrilled. So are we.
Third, the blessings and opportunities of sharing with people in multiple locations in multiple ministries all taking place at the same time still continue to thrill my heart. The Lord has taken me away from being in one church at a time, but through technology and writing, I am able to be in dozens of local churches, classrooms, and counseling centers all at the same time. I so appreciate Chris Brown and his skills in techPartner. Through my PRESS fund you help me to support his ministry in recording and video editing for my ministry. Take a moment to see the latest updates at www.michaelpeck.org. There are new Two Minute Tickers which can be downloaded and viewed in services. Also available are new video workshops that come with worksheets which can be used in the classroom, worship service or counseling center. There are new articles under Family Matters. Soon there will be multiple counseling resources that will come in the form of video recordings.
Fourth, the website continues to be used as a work station and a resource center. There are not a lot of fancy pictures on my site. I want it to be a place where individuals, families, pastors, teachers, and counselors can come, easily download material absolutely free of charge, and use it in their homes or ministry.
Recently a Sunday school teacher said she was going to use some of my material from Dr. Mike’s Daily Prescription. Later she wrote back, “God bless you as your ministry reaches farther than you could even know.” That’s both humbling and yet very exciting.
A new subscriber to the Dr. Mike’s Daily Prescription recently wrote, “Your devotionals are awesome. Thanks.” Your support makes possible our ministry throughout the United States as well as internationally from the Philippines to Africa.
As you know, I have resigned from being the Vice President of Baptist Church Planters. Though I am no longer involved in the administrative work of the mission, please let me reiterate from last month, I am still a full-time missionary. I am giving my full-time efforts to fulfilling our commissioning to assist our church planting missionaries and producing materials that will be helpful in our church plants, local churches, and in the homes of American families.
Lastly, we are not exactly sure what has occurred with my back situation, but here is what we do know: following the weekend of being extremely sick (without going into the gory details!) something is different. I am not pain free but the chronic, relentless pain is better. On a scale of one to ten, by nightfall I would be around an eight. Over the last few weeks, I have been at a three or four. We don’t know how long it will last but Karen and I are really enjoying the relief.
You are our dear supporters. You love us. You stand with us. You share in our heartaches and rejoice in our successes. We love you as well. It is not the ministry of Michael and Karen. It is the ministry of the Lord, hundreds of prayer supporters, dozens of financial supporters, and Michael and Karen. I have never been any more committed to producing resources, quality written and video recorded resources for families and local churches.
Recently I stood before our missionary family. I pledged to them that I was still available to them. Over the next few years with the Lord’s help and our partner’s support, I will produce as many resources as possible. Thank you so very much for your support. We love being your missionaries to the American family.
