“Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear Him (Psalm 103:13).
The Hebrew word for “pitieth” is racham which is pronounced ra-KHAM. It means to “love deeply, to have tender compassion.” Softly she sobbed as she snuggled in my arms. Her little knee was carefully cleansed and the proper first-aid had long since been given, but she needed one more thing. She needed her daddy’s love and attention. It may not have been a big medical crisis, but it was big to my little girl. Quickly it came to my mind that this is the same way my Heavenly Father cares about me. As I had a tender compassion for my child, so my Father offers tender compassion for me. I am a father who is subject to failing from time to time. But my Heavenly Father is the perfect Father. He is completely righteous in all that He does. He never fails. He never grows weary. He never is wrong. He always loves His child and deals with that child in a perfect way. I just couldn’t help but thank the Lord for being my perfect Father as I held my little girl.
