“The Power of a Mother’s Words”

“She opens her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness” (Proverbs 31:26).

The new family moved in next door. Bennie was really excited to see that the new family had a son his age. He soon found out that his new friend was named Brian. It wasn’t long until Bennie and his family heard all kinds of screaming, threatening, and yelling coming from Brian’s mother. “I think she is the meanest mother in the world!” Bennie told his mom. “I’m glad you don’t scream like that. No wonder Brian always wants to come to our house.” A couple of months later on a day that Brian was visiting Bennie’s home, he turned around and said to Bennie’s mom, “I like being in your house, Mrs. Thompson. Sometimes when my mom is yelling at everyone, I pretend that you are my mom. It helps me a lot.” With that he was on his way outside with Bennie, and Mrs. Thompson was in tears at the kitchen counter. The power of words, especially coming from a mom cannot be overly estimated. Guard your words, tone, and volume!

For today: May your words be pleasing to the Lord and a blessing to your family today.
