The Tourist, the Purchase, and the Discovery

“Who is like unto the LORD our God, who dwelleth on high” (Psalm 113:5).

The exuberant souvenir salesman desperately wanted just one more sale today. He held up the pottery and claimed, “You’ll never find a duplicate. You can’t compare it to anything else on earth!” The tourist noted that the pottery was beautiful, and she wanted to remember the foreign town in which she was visiting. It only cost ten dollars, so she bought it. Carefully the salesman wrapped it in paper and handed it to the traveler who boarded the bus just before it departed. Along the trip, the tourist wanted to look at this amazing gift, and to her chagrin, on the bottom of this one-of-a-kind pot, she saw that it was made in a different foreign country! She had been duped. Turning to the person with whom she was traveling she remarked, “Well, I’m glad that the Lord is truly unique. Not at all like my purchase of the day!”

For today: Our God is awesome in all that He is and all that He does! Nothing compares to Him.
