“We Have a Major Situation and Need Your Immediate Prayers”
A Brief Update March 29th, 2016
This morning in my quiet time reading I came to 1 Samuel 7:12 where Samuel celebrates the awesome power of the Lord and His direct answer to their prayer. The Philistines looked insurmountable to the people of Israel. The situation looked impossible. Wisely the people called upon Samuel to pray. They said to Samuel, “Cease not to cry unto the LORD our God for us” (1 Samuel 7:8). Indeed Samuel prayed and the LORD God answered in an unmistakable way. Samuel celebrates this answer to prayer by calling the name of it “Ebenezer” which means “Hitherto hath the LORD helped us” (1 Samuel 7:12).
All along the cancer journey you have been there to pray. We could powerfully write over each of the chapters of our journey, “Ebenezer—Hitherto the LORD has helped us!” Late yesterday we discovered that a major situation has come to us and we need your prayers. The situation is that our insurance company will not approve the PET scan that Karen’s Oncologist has ordered. A year ago the PET scan showed an “abnormality” in her lower quadrant which was not cancerous. Now a year later this “abnormality” has changed shapes. The Oncologist therefore wants to check to see if there are cancer cells present. If the cancer has spread we will need to change chemotherapies. However, the insurance company has refused to authorize this expensive test.
Please ask the Lord for wisdom for our doctor’s office (he is on vacation this week). Please ask the Lord to overrule the hearts of the decision makers of our insurance company. I do not want to make them to appear as the bad guys. They are not the Philistines. They have been wonderful to us this past year. We realize that they have a protocol to follow. But if this test is as important as our Oncologist felt it to be, we know that decisions can be overturn. Please ask the Lord to show His will to our doctor and us.
We want this to be an “Ebenezer—Hitherto the LORD has helped us” kind of situation. I will keep you posted
