“The Third of Three Really Dynamic Pictures!”
Do you know anyone who really could use some peace in their lives?
Yes, these pictures really can have an impact on every person I know.
March 20, 2024
Though it was years ago, the theme is so timely.
It has been a joy and privilege these past several weeks to dwell on of Karen’s conference notes where she spoke to ladies on a Friday night and twice Saturday morning. The theme that she was invited to develop was “Peace in Troubled Times!” In this seminar she developed the foundational truth that peace comes as we fully trust Him.
I love this Scripture passage that she used.
One of the Scripture passages she used was “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusts in Thee. Trust ye in the LORD forever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength” (Isaiah 26:3-4).
To help develop a deeper trust in the Lord, she took them to Deuteronomy 10 and brought out several of the word pictures the Lord gave to Moses to help the second generation of the children of Israel to trust Him. The first word picture involved divine ownership. The second word picture focused on divine favor.
Let me bring you to the third word picture and Scripture that she used.
Word picture # 3- Think of His Divine Faithfulness. “He is Thy praise, and He is thy God, that hath done for thee these great and terrible” (awesome) “things, which thine eyes have seen. Thy fathers went down into Egypt with threescore and ten persons; and now the LORD thy God hath made thee as the stars of heaven for multitude” (Deuteronomy 10:21-22).
Down into Egypt with seventy people elderly Jacob (Israel) and his family came. Now they stood as a nation who were so numerous it was hard to count. Only the faithfulness of our mighty God could do this. They went to Egypt as very few; they left Egypt as a multitude. You see, life is not always easy. It is not always what I would have chosen. But when I choose to submit to Him because I know He loves me, I discover over and over again His wonderful faithfulness.
I love what she penciled in at the bottom of her teaching sheet:
She penciled in at this point, “Hymn # 415.” I honestly do not know what the hymn was. I do wonder if it was Great Is Thy Faithfulness. I love the text written by Thomas O. Chisholm and the music by William M. Runyan.
The refrain goes,
“Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness! Morning by morning new mercies I see; All I have needed Thy hand hath provided. Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord unto me!” Certainly His ownership, favor, and faithfulness help me to trust Him more fully. I also hope that you will sing that refrain often throughout the day.
That, my friends, is priceless. Our God is faithful. We can trust Him. This gives me great peace. How about you?
Coming next month, an entirely different format for “Karen’s Notes!” The read will be much briefer and right to the point.
