“The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness” (Romans 13:12-13).
Paul reminds the Roman believers and us as well, that we live according to a different standard. The world lives according to whatever makes them happy. The KJV continues by commanding believers not to be in “chambering and wantonness.” The NKJV translates the words as “lewdness and lust.” We live in a day and age of loose morals, situational ethics, and drunkenness. Our courts are full of DWI and repeat offenders. Paul’s writing 2,000 years ago is right up-to-date and so applicable for us today. We belong to the Light of the World (John 8:12), so let’s put on the armor of light by being doers of God’s Word.
For today: I want to live differently than the world. It’s not that I am better than the world, but I surely am different. How about you?
