“Thank You for Praying!”
A Prayer Update on My Karen for May 27th, 2016
I am assuming that some of our prayer partners are getting a head start on getting out of town for this very special weekend. I wanted to quickly update everyone and offer our sincere thanks for your love, concern for us, and prayers for us as well.
Karen came through the surgical procedure very well. Things are always very rough when she comes out of anesthesia. The medical team was ready for her by giving her medicine in the IV as well as a patch. In this surgical procedure the thoracic surgeon placed five gold markers around the cancerous mass by going through her mouth and into her lung. Yes, they used general anesthesia and she was sound asleep!
Today her throat is less scratchy and she is coughing less. We are encouraged with the thoracic surgeon’s report that while he was inside her lung, he was easily able to spot the mass. He actually was able to look around and saw nothing that looked suspicious surrounding the mass. He even told me that the mass is in a perfect location for the cyber knife surgery which will follow. We are not sure when this cyber knife will take place. It might happen yet in June; but probably will be July. Imagine! Did you ever think you would see the day that a surgeon would be able to operate inside the human lung without making an incision! Amazing, isn’t it?
Thank you for your continued prayers. We are asking the Lord to keep Karen free from getting a cold or bronchitis. We can’t tell you how much your friendship means to us. Tonight in the Cavs game, I don’t think Karen will have the voice to scream very much. However, she might squeak a little as she cheers her team along.
